Mike graduated from Southwest Texas University (now Texas State University) with a degree in accounting in 1988. Mike then attended The University of Houston Law Center and graduated with a juris doctorate degree in 1991. During undergraduate and law school Mike worked in a variety of legal and accounting jobs including the Internal Revenue Service and court clerkships in Harris County, Texas district and probate courts.
After law school Mike worked as tax attorney and assistant controller for a multi-state title insurance company. He then left to pursue the private practice of law where he represented businesses and individuals in the Houston area for 11 years. Mike then moved with his family to the Texas Hill Country to improve his quality of life and represent the legal needs of the Hays County/Austin area.
Mike is licensed to practice in all state courts in Texas, the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Texas districts, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the court of the Alabama-Coushatta tribe of Louisiana. He has first chair jury trial experience from jury selection to verdict in both Texas state and federal courts. Mike has also handled civil litigation cases in the state and federal courts of Oklahoma, Minnesota, Illinois and Nevada.
Mike primarily handles family law cases, but also is involved in civil litigation involving business disputes, homeowners association issues and consumer protection. He also serves as local counsel for law firms who have litigation needs in the courts of Hays County, Texas.
Family law cases he regularly handles include traditional divorces, collaborative law divorces, paternity, post-divorce modifications, child support collection, visitation enforcement, adoptions, drafting and review of prenuptial and post-marital agreements, interstate child support and custody cases, grandparent access and custody issues, and international child custody issues arising under the Hague Convention.
Mike enjoys riding his road bike throughout the Texas Hill Country as well as reading and spending time with his family.
